Hello Friends and Happy Fri-Yay!
What happens when it’s Friday night and you don’t feel like cooking, ordering pizza or going out and a bowl of cereal just won’t cut it? In our house when that happens we head straight to the garage and to the freezer. There is where I try to keep microwavable meals and snacks specifically for those occasions and last Friday night it was Lean Pockets Pretzel Bread Sandwiches.
I am not a big proponent of frozen meals & snacks because of the excessive sodium some of them contain but these Lean Pockets brand sandwiches are only 250 calories with 650 mg of sodium which isn’t a lot compared to others that contain well over 1000 mg of sodium.
The Lean Pockets Sandwiches were filled with Spinach and 3 Cheeses, Fontina, Romano and reduced Fat Mozzarella. I zapped one in the microwave for 2 minutes 30 seconds in the crisping sleeve then cut it in half. It didn’t seem like it had a lot of filling and could have had more spinach, but to my surprise it was quite good and hit the spot. The soft pretzel bread encased a flavorful mix of spinach and cheeses that paired well with my glass of Friday night wine!
Speaking of wine, I want to reintroduce my “play cousin” Cook E doe Face. She is a down to earth YouTube Vlogger who will have you in stitches as you watch her create some delicious dishes and “knock you on your butt cocktails”.
Cook E de Face is from Philly and I fell in love with her atty-tud (Philly slang) from the very first video I watched. In today’s world it is so easy to get caught up in the negativity but you know me, I like to keep it light. Cook E doe Face has me laughing out loud and reminds me of my own New York cousins. If it were left up to me she would definitely have a show on the Food or OWN Network!

OOTD & Wordless Wednesday-NOT!

on:Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday. This morning I had an hour long conversation with a cousin that I met only once, 12 years ago at my father’s funeral. We talked and laughed as if we had spoken just last week. Our conversation was enjoyable and we both learned a little more about each other and our families. These days it seems as though personal letter writing or conversing on a LAN line has been replaced with texting, instant messaging, tweeting or facebooking. We need to connect on a more personal level with family and friends especially as time marches on and our lives shorten. Today I vow to call her more often as well as having live conversations with other family members and friends.

Successful Saturday
Posted October 7, 2012
on:Hello friends and Happy Sunday. Today is a lazy-do-nothing-but relax day because it’s cold and rainy. I did wash the kitchen floor which has been on my to-do list for over a month. The weekend is over but tomorrow schools are closed as well as many businesses however, I will be working.
Saturday was a successful day, I made $85.00, selling at Dutch Country Farmers Flea Market. Sold clothing, shoes, household items and Halloween decorations from $1.00 to $5.00. The sons helped me set up and stayed the entire time. I donated to Goodwill several boxes of summer clothing and decorations that did not sell. The weather started out cool but warmed up nicely and the people were friendly so overall it was a good day.
Once home I had to get ready to go to Dover to meet my cousins for dinner. They had arrived earlier on a bus trip from New Rochelle to Dover Downs. I am not a big slots player and didn’t want to lose the $85.00, so only played 3 slot machines and lost $15.00. My cousins broke even and we went to dinner at Olive Garden. I love the cold salads and warm bread and did not overdo it with the pasta. Just as my day started, it ended equally well because I was home before 8:00 and my cousin called at midnight she was at work, I wish I had half her energy!
