Dress Shoes on the Cheap
Posted August 10, 2012
on:Tomorrow hubby and I will be celebrating our 22nd Wedding Anniversary at our favorite restaurant in Newark. I will be wearing the blue dress that I purchased from Boscov’s and for the life of me I couldn’t remember if I had shoes to wear with it. Driving home I contemplated stopping at the mall but I didn’t want to spend a lot on a pair of shoes that most likely will be worn only a few times.
I drive by a Goodwill so I decided to stop and found 2 pairs of shoes for $4.00 each! In the past I would never have purchased second hand shoes but thanks to the recession that is no longer unthinkable.
Most times the shoes are gently worn or haven’t been worn at all and I make sure to thoroughly disinfectant them prior to wearing. I donate shoes to Goodwill all the time and there are times when women have tried on shoes in the department store prior to my purchasing them so it’s no big deal.
I spray and wipe out the shoes and straps while wearing plastic or rubber gloves, and for non-fabric shoes I use bleach and water.
Is Goodwill Still A Good Deal?

on:I remember the days when you could purchase clothing at Goodwill for 1 or 2 dollars. Of course back then, thrifing wasn’t as popular or considered a chosen alternative to department stores. There were always vintage boutiques where you expected to pay more, but never at Goodwill – not until now. Here are a few items that I found at Goodwill in Thorndale, PA which ranged in price from $3.50 to $5.00, this location also receives unsold shoes from Target which is a good deal.
