Father’s Day 2013
Posted June 16, 2013
on:Hello Friends, I hope everyone had a nice Father’s Day weekend!
Hubby had a nice one even with a change in dinner plans, but I was able to pull off what I think was a better meal than what we would have had at a restaurant. Yesterday he played a little one-on-one with Malik and fortunately, no injuries were sustained!
Father’s Day Dinner was baked Salmon, Spinach Shrimp Salad and Dill Potato Salad. Daddy’s (not mine) dessert was Lemon Meringue Pie and Talenti Gelato Mediterranean Mint.
Have a fantabulous evening – Smooches!
Father’s Day Friday

on:Hello Friends and Happy FRI-YAY!
Sunday is Father’s Day, a day to honor and celebrate our dad; daddy; pops; pop-pop; grandfather; brother; uncle or significant other. Sunday is also the 14th anniversary of my father’s death. Talvage Cross, Jr., my father, didn’t raise me nor were we close I did however, love him very much.
He died on June 16, 1999, at the age of 61, a heart attack in a library in Cincinnati, Ohio. A man of meager means who loved to read, so for him to die in a Public Library was profound.
Talvage Cross, was a hard working and decent man; the man that married my mother in 1960; the man that assisted in my creation in 1961; the man that walked me down the aisle in 1990; and the man that consoled me when my sister, his daughter died in 1992. My sister, Gloria Cross, Jr., was named after his own sister Gloria who also died at an early age.
He was also the man that died before my sons had a chance to meet him, the first time they saw him he was laid in a coffin. They like me do not have a grandfather, they will never call another man granddaddy or pops, because hubby’s dad is also deceased.
On Sunday, my sons will be celebrating and honoring their father, another great man, or as Malik likes to call him “the old man” and for that I am blessed.
I am wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
Father’s Day 2012

on:My father, Talvage Cross, Jr., made me but didn’t raise me, I did love and respect him and he even walked me down the aisle on my wedding day in 1990. He’s dead and buried in Cincinnati, Ohio and there are times that I think about him but not usually on Father’s Day. The only time my sons saw him, he was in the casket and they were too young to remember the flight to Ohio let alone his funeral. I do regret that my sons never got a chance to meet either grandfathers, both of which are deceased.
My sons will never know the 2nd generation granddaddy love but they will always know their
father’s love.
My husband has an awesome relationship with them and for that Father’s Day will always be special for them but more importantly special to me!
OOTD – Funky Friday

on:It’s FRI-YAY the beginning of what is predicted to be a gorgeous weekend. I plan on getting my inside chores done early so that I can sit poolside reading magazines, listening to music and sipping a few cold ones!!! I am not sure what my sons have planned for their pops but hopefully it includes eating out so that I don’t have to cook! I am wishing you all a safe, fun filled, fan-tab-u-lous weekend and Happy Father’s Day to all the dads.
Enjoy!
