Bloggers 4 JCPenney Campaign
Posted March 16, 2013
on:JC Penney was the place to shop when I was in High School, but that was the late ’70’s, now most people think of JCP as a place to shop for bedroom slippers, nightgowns or bedding. So last month when I went to the Exton Mall and by chance walked through I was surprised by what I saw. Of course it was the $3/$5 and $10 clearance racks that initially caught my attention (remember this post) but as I looked around I was impressed by other areas including the lingerie, active wear, accessories, and jewelry departments. Since then I’ve read posts by other bloggers who have had similar experiences mostly positive, and that got me thinking about how we could collectively inform others of the changes at JCPenney.
Unfortunately, we have been reading about their struggle in attracting consumers, the disastrous marketing campaigns and the loss of value in their stocks. I have to admit that I personally don’t like the “us-vs-them” approach because it seems negative and negativity is too prevalent in today’s society. JCPenney was established in 1902, and is a company that should be able to weather this storm, I hope their new CEO can create a positive approach in attracting customers back into the stores.
To assist in this endeavor I am starting a #B4JCP Campaign – (Bloggers for JCPenney). This Facebook page and Twitter account will be a catalyst for bloggers to collectively showcase their fashion finds by posting pictures or just writing about their experiences in the store.
In my opinion JCPenney has evolved to become a more trendy and fashionable place to shop, the store’s layout is boutique-like, pleasant, and not intimidating regardless of your price point. The layout and flow is comfortable and inviting, not cramped or overwhelming and they have the latest fashions for everyone.
Friday a new line was introduced, Joe Fresh Clothing by Canadian designer Joe Mimran. There are high hopes that this will help turn JCPenney around, it may, however, I think the current in-store enhancements will assist in that endeavor – they just need to be discovered.

I look forward to reading your posts and seeing your outfits on the Bloggers4JCPenney Facebook page – have fun!
JC Penney Clearance Sales
Posted February 14, 2013
on:Do you remember my previous post about the clearance sales at JC Penney? Did you go? If not, I suggest you go there as soon as you can. Today I went back to return the $5 skirt and ended up getting 2 more, a Worthington black and white tweet and a pencil skirt; a patterned scoop neck top and a Comfort Revolution sports bra for a grand total of $12.00!
There are $3/$5/$10/$12 and $14 clearance racks in every department, men/women and children clothing, jewelry, accessories, shoes, purses, lingerie, housewares, etc. If you need a last minute Valentine’s Day gift, get to the mall with a quickness because you will definitely get more for your money!
These pics were taken when I stopped in last month.
Have fun shopping & saving!
Is this the new “Dollar Tree”
Posted January 27, 2013
on:Good Sunday Morning my Friends – I hope this the first day of the week is going well for you.
Sundays are normally the days that I do my grocery shopping, and I don’t head out without first checking the paper for coupons and sales. I was totally surprised when I saw this newly designed “Dollar Tree” insert, I had to do a double take and then asked hubby to look at it as well.
Is it true…is Dollar Tree no longer the place where “Everything Is A Dollar”? Is this why they started accepting manufacturer’s coupons? Is it in only certain areas? Say it isn’t so…I will definitely be checking it out before I go grocery shopping.
$avings At The Salvation Army
Posted September 8, 2012
on:I was in Wilmington on Thursday for a doc appointment and afterwards I drove over to The Salvation Army which is located by the train station. As a child I remember my grandmother taking us shopping at a Salvation Army on North Avenue in New Rochelle and it was never fun or exciting. However, when I walked into this Salvation Army my heart started palpatating and my mind filled with excitement! It had been over 16 years since the last time I was here and things had really changed, the lighting was bright, the merchandise was neat and the space was huge. It was here back in the early ’90’s that we bought our first dining room set, a Butler’s Pantry and a crib. The pieces were nice but I had to strip and re-stain the table, re-upholster the chair pads and disinfect the crib. Although we no longer have the dining room set or crib I did keep the Butler’s Pantry and it is currently in our living room storing the “good China” and wedding photo albums.
According to the history of The Salvation Army it was founded based on the gospel of Jesus Christ helping the poor, the homeless, the hungry, and the destitute and what William Booth started in 1865, is just as relevant today. Donating and shopping at The Salvation Army helps so many people and great causes that it makes you feel good about spending money in their stores.
Upon entering this location what struck me was the department store atmosphere, the bright lighting, the open landscape, overly organized and color coordinated merchandise. I spent the first few minutes just walking around checking out the signage, tags and watching and listening to the associates interact with customers. The associates were busy on the floor yet, when they passed, they acknowledged you with a smile and a few kind words, this really made me feel welcomed, wanting to linger longer and spend more. I was so impressed that I sought out an employee who turned out to be the store manager, Don Walker. I expressed my delight explaining that I was a Blogger and would be writing about my positive experience. He thanked me, provided an update on the changes at the Salvation Army and then took the time to explain and write down the sales policies.
